Frequently Asked Questions

+ What is included in the price?

Our standard inclusions are a state-of-the-art magnesium mineral sanitation system, skimmer box, pump, and cartridge filter. Additional items will vary the pricing.

+ How much deposit do I put down?

A 25% deposit is required to lock in the pricing. To allocate your pool into our production schedule, an additional 50% deposit is required (a total of 75%).

+ Aside from the pool, what else may I have to pay for?

You will need to organise an electrician to connect power to the pool. Beyond this, additional costs may include site specific requirements such as crane hire, building costs, engineering, transport, council application or finishings.

+ How long does the pool take to make?

Our lead time is typically 10-12 weeks, however, the current demand is very high and that tends to push out the completion dates. All orders are on a first-in basis and we allocate a manufacturing slot when we receive your production deposit (75% of the total pool cost).

+ How deep are your pools?

Our pools are approximately 1.3 metres deep in the swim space.

+ Where do you deliver?

Our pools are all over the world! We are proudly Australian made and provide pools to all corners of Australia.

+ What should I build my pool on?

We recommend that you place your pool on an engineered concrete slab or steel frame. Your builder will be able to organise, engineer and certify the best option for your site. The options are endless. For a mild slope, you could excavate and retain a section to create a level area suitable for a concrete slab. For a significant slope or elevated position, or to meet an existing deck height, perhaps a steel support frame is the ideal option. Whatever your situation, your builder can help you find the best solution for your needs.

+ Can it go in the ground?

We recommend your pool remain above ground as it is designed to be. However, if you have a mildly sloping location in mind it’s possible to excavate down to level and place your pool on a concrete slab. A retaining wall will be necessary to keep damp soil 20-30cm away from the pool exterior.

+ Can the pool shape or size be modified?

Unfortunately no, because our custom fibreglass shells are designed specifically to match standard shipping container dimensions. Having a standard configuration allows us to keep the costs down for you.

+ Does the metal from the container cause the pool to become hot

No, it does not affect the temperature as fibreglass itself is very insulating. If the pool is in full sun during the summer, the water will heat up regardless of the metal container. We offer an optional reverse cycle heat pump that will cool the water to your desired temperature for hotter climates, and warm the water during colder periods. In addition, we can also include insulation to the fiberglass shell in an effort to reduce the heat transfer.

+ Can the outside of the container be clad with weatherboards or other cladding?

Yes, you can clad the outside of the container yourself, as we do not offer this. However, the cladding might affect the safety aspect of the pool (e.g. horizontal boards might allow a child to climb up into the pool).

+ What is our decking made from?

The decking is hand-made and styled from real oak timbers, creating an incredibly realistic look that captures the natural beauty of wood. The decking is made from a revolutionary Polyurethane resin, reinforced with mineral fibres plus a unique Lastane® coating. It maintains the rigidity & longevity of plastic, with the suppleness of rubber. This makes it feel much more natural underfoot, while still offering incredible durability.

+ Should I add a pool cover?

Most of our customers do! Water is an excellent absorber of the sun’s energy and it passes through the transparent blanket to heat your pool water up to 8ºC warmer. Our roller can assist to keep out leaves too.

+ Do you have any heating/cooling options?

We sure do! We offer a reverse-cycle swimming pool heat pump as an optional addition to your pool (12kw or 17kw options). The units we supply are exceptionally energy-efficient, giving back up to six times the energy they consume. We mount these units inside the container itself, so there’s no external piping to compromise the clean exterior of your Shipping Container Pool.

+ What pool lights do you offer?

We offer the options of either one or two remote-controlled multicolour LED pool lights. One light is sufficient for a 6 metre pool, and two lights work best in a 12 metre pool.

+ Should I add a pool cleaner?

Adding a pool cleaner will reduce the time spent cleaning and maintaining your pool. We recommend a fully robotic pool cleaner over a vacuum-powered cleaner, because current Australian Standards limit the amount of suction available. The robotic pool cleaner we supply as an option is fully programmable and offers a superior level of cleaning, scrubbing, and vacuuming all the way to the water line.

+ Should I have a swim jet?

A swim jet projects a high flow mixture of air and water into the pool area, turning your swimming experience from a leisurely dip to extreme exercise. We have a number of options to suit the casual swimmer right through to elite athletes like Kyle Chalmers and Kara Saunders.

+ Do you do installations?

No, we don’t. As the manufacturer, we work with owners, builders and project managers to ensure the success of your project. Many of our clients manage the project themselves, and others prefer to outsource the details to a qualified builder.

+ How do I get my pool to my location?

We make your pool available from our manufacturing facility in Coolum Beach, Queensland. Most clients organise transport independently but if necessary, we can organise transport on a “cost plus” basis to any location in Australia. Please be aware though, that you will need to unload the pool at your site when it arrives. Typically, they are lifted by crane from the truck to your pool’s permanent location.

+ Do I need council approval?

Yes, certification and council approval is required for any pool in Australia. Documentation differs from state to state and you will be required to complete this. It can be put through the council directly or through a private certifier.

+ Do I need a fence?

All states and territories have their own unique interpretations of the Australian Standard with regards to pool fencing, therefore it will be your responsibility to ensure that the pool (fence or no fence) complies with your local council requirements.

+ Do I need a crane?

Normally, yes. In some situations, it is possible to “tilt tray” the pool onto a prepared concrete slab but in most cases, a crane will be needed. Local crane operators will visit your site beforehand to determine the specific crane and lift details, and have everything set up for you when the truck brings your pool to your location.

+ Can I do my own decking?

Yes, of course! We just supply the pool. Please let us know so that we can work with your builder to ensure the heights of decking, concrete slabs or supporting steel frame, etc are correct. Some things to think about if you are installing your pool against decking - access to the pumphouse area inside the container, fixing of decking bearers to the container, fixing of any required pool fencing, location of heat pump grilles, etc. We’ll work with you to get it all perfect!

+ What electrical supply do I need to organise?

Your electrician needs to supply a single 240VAC 10A circuit to power the magnesium sanitation system, pump and lighting. Up to three GPOs are necessary. If you’ve specified a swim jet or a heat pump, your electrician will also need to supply a 240VAC circuit for each. Depending on the swim jet and heat pump option, each circuit may need to be 25A fixed connection. Call us if you’re in doubt! In every case, your electrician will also need to ensure the container is properly earthed - ideally, through its own strap.

+ What plumbing work needs to be organised?

Each Shipping Container Pool is supplied fully plumbed and no exterior plumbing is necessary. If you selected the optional sand filter, your local council may require you to plumb the waste flow to stormwater or sewer but this is not a universal requirement. You may also opt to divert the skimmer box overflow piping and heat pump condensate piping to stormwater but this is entirely up to you!
